Sep 01, 2023'Best' way to keep shower glass clean and 'like new' using 80p product - Leicestershire Live
Despite our best efforts to keep our bathrooms pristine, the shower glass often proves a stubborn challenge. Water splashes, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and exfoliator residues can be particularly difficult to remove.
The longer these products are left on the glass, the harder it becomes to restore the shower glass to its original shine. However, followers of cleaning expert Mrs Hinch have shared a solution to this common problem.
On the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, one member sought advice on maintaining the sparkle of her large glass shower screen, asking for recommendations on streak-free cleaning methods and suitable cleaning cloths for glass, reports the Express.

Her post was soon inundated with helpful suggestions from fellow group members. One particular tip proved especially popular, involving a simple and affordable product that costs just 80p.
Group members advised keeping a squeegee or rubber blade at hand every time you bathe or shower, using it to swiftly clean the glass after each use. One person suggested: "Keep at squeegee hanging from screen and make everyone wipe down when finished once a week I also use descaler spray and scrub it."
Another chimed in with advice: "Use a karcher or rubber blade every time you shower. Or wipe down with a towel. If it's marked use viakal and a nylon scourer. Don't leave on for more than 5 mins."
And a third added their method: "Clean it with viakel or similar, after every use use a window squeegee to wipe down. I only viakel mine now once or twice a year as using the squeegee every use keeps it all at bay."
Further advice came from another contributor: "I've now solved it with using the squeegee, using the microfibre cloth to 'dry' the squeegee after every pass down the shower glass, and then at the end I go around all the edges and the door handle with the Minky cloth. Honestly, the shower looks like it's never been used."
Affordable squeegees can be found at places like Dunelm starting from just 80p, or IKEA offers an option for £1.
Tips also poured in about trusty household items great for cleaning tasks, notably white vinegar. A participant in the discussion recommended: "Make mix washing up liquid, white vinegar and rinse aid, sparkling screens every time."
Completing the round-up of suggestions, someone else shared their approach: "I use white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda mixed together and clean mine using a non stick scourer pad. Rinse off and buff dry with an e-cloth glass cleaning cloth."
